Our next stop was in the adventure capital of the world (well, at least of New Zealand) - Queenstown.
Despite Mike's fear of heights, we decided that if we were ever going to bungy jump, this was the place to do it. We went to the original bungy jumping site, Kawarau Bridge, and signed up.
Mike went first...
...and got a little wet
Which meant Alexis needed to do it too (she was secretly hoping he might back out!)
Hilariously, we jumped in front of an entire bus of tourists, who were watching with cameras at the ready and let out a collective "whooooaaaaaa" at every jump.
Happy that we had survived (and actually enjoyed it), we spent the rest of the day eating cheeseburgers and drinking beer on the lake.
The next day we hiked up to one of the tallest peaks in the area to check out the city from above. It was a bit more of a hike than we were expecting, but worth it for the views.
On the way up:
At the summit, looking out over the city:
And making our way back down:
Satisfied with our adrenaline rush (for now, at least!), we're headed to the west coast and Milford Sound. Maybe we'll provide an update on it soon?
